Watch ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ Teaser Trailer!

The first official trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies has been released. We won’t be seeing a full-length trailer until October, but we have to admit: this was pretty awesome. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies film—the final film—opens intheaters December 17, 2014.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.

Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain.

As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

We don’t want it to end, but we’re glad it happened—you know? Can’t wait for December 17th!

Ian Somerhalder Talks The Vampire Diaries Season 6 at Comic Con!

The folks over at HappyCool were lucky enough to get an interview with Ian Somerhalder at Comic-Con 2014 where he chats about the sixth season of The Vampire Diaries. You can check out the interview they did with his Vampire Diaries co-star Paul Wesley here.

Season six of The Vampire Diaries premieres Thursday, Oct. 2 at 8/7c on the CW

In other Vampire Diaries news, TV After Dark we able to attend the 2014 Comic Con panel for the show and they’ve compiled a great list of five things they learned from the cast and executive producer, Julie Plec.

1. There will be a 4-month time jump when Season 6 returns.

Julie Plec told the audience that when Season 6 begins, there has been a 4-month time jump so the characters have a chance to settle after the crazy events of season 5 and try to come to terms with what has happened to them. Can you guess what each of them might be doing to deal with their grief?

2. Bonnie and Jeremy could still have the hots for each other.

Yep, you heard correct – our Bon Bon and her Jer could find their way back to each other. At least, according to Kat Graham – Plec doesn’t share the same enthusiasm. Remember how Bonnie dumped him via phone message? Yeah, if they do reunite it’ll be up to Jeremy. Cast your vote: will these two make amends (all ghostly things aside)?

3. Steroline is a definite possibility.

It wasn’t so much spoiled as it was hinted that Stefan and Caroline could take their friendship to the next level. With Elena mourning over Damon, why should Stefan wait around for her? Besides, it won’t violate the girl code between Caroline and Elena. Nina Dobrev reminded fans that Elena is the last person who can judge – after all, she has slept with both brothers. Likewise, Paul Wesley joked “We’re pretty liberal on this show,” so don’t rule out Steroline just yet.

I don’t know what it is, but I cannot, for the life of me, get behind or ship Steroline. They seem more like brother and sister than anything. And then he was the love of Elena’s life . . . there’s the whole “friend code” thing. It’s just . . . weird.

Nevertheless, you can read the rest over at TV After Dark here.
