Jamie Blackley and Chloë Moretz promote If I Stay to Philippine fans!
If I Stay was adapted from the bestselling young adult comtemporary novel by Gayle Forman and centers around Mia Hall (Chloë Moretz) and Adam Wilde (Jamie Blackley). The two meet and are beginning to fall in love when Mia and her family get into a terrible car accident that takes the lives of her mother and father (and
eventually her brother
).
Mia Hall is in a coma and in a state where she is looking in at herself and everyone around her; she decides that giving up would be so easy. Her family is gone and she feels she has nothing left to live for. But between her boyfriend, he best friend, and her grandpa she realizes that she still has a lot to live for. In the end, the choice is up to her where she’ll stay or leave.
The book is heartbreaking, but in the best way. The follow up novel, Where She Went, is told from Adam’s point of view and I personally liked it even more (which is saying a lot because If I Stay is one of my favorite books of all time!).
Gayle Forman’s “Just One Day” and “Just One Year” are also being adapted to film, with both stories being combined into one movie. (Which makes sense—if you’ve read the books you’ll know what I mean.
