Emma Watson on What Scares Her About Playing Belle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’

In January Emma Watson announced that she was going to play Belle in Disney’s live-action remake of ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ — which made us beyond happy and a billion times more excited for this retelling. (I mean, it’s Emma Wastson. She’s a talented, basass U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador who uses her success to stand up for women’s rights!)

In her first interview about the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ role, Emma admits that some aspects of playing Belle are daunting. Speaking to Total Film Magazine, the actress said:

“I sing, so that’s really unexpected. I’ve never had to do that for a film role before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that,” adding, “It gives me a different challenge, really. That’s terrifying in and of itself!”

Emma is also currently working with Harry Potter producer David Heyman in an executive producer role on a multipart adaptation of fantasy series Queen Of The Tearling, in which she will also star. Speaking about her involvement in the series, Watson had this to say:

“I really like it. For me, to want to sign up to a series again, I wanted to have a certain amount of autonomy and control within that.
“Working with David’s been great. I’d love to direct something one day. I’d love to produce as well, so it’s quite a nice way to start learning about that. Yeah, just dipping my toes into that world.”

We’d love to see her direct, too! She’s spent her life in the movie-making industry; surely she has creativity swimming through her veins.

Many thanks to Telegraph
