The next Fifty Shades movie, Fifty Shades Darker, is getting closer to finding its director. Hooray!
James Foley (who directed “Fear,” “Perfect Stranger,” “Confidence” and more) is the current frontrunner. There is also early speculation that Foley will direct Fifty Shades Freed, the third installment in the hugely popular novels written by E.L. James. Negotiations haven’t begun yet, but Universal is reportedly set to start them soon.
Dakota Johnson will be returning to her role as Anastasia Steele, and Jamie Dornan will reprise his role as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades Darker.
Sam Taylor Johnson directed the first movie, Fifty Shades of Grey—which grossed $569 million worldwide—but she ended up leaving the franchise over creative differences.
