“Fifty Shades of Grey” Movie Was Rated R by MPAA!

If you’ve read the “Fifty Shades of Grey” book then you know it has very strong sexual content, so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the MPAA has deemed the film worthy of an R rating due to the “strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity.”

Unusual behavior?

Well, that’s sure to cause some buzz.

Fans have been wondering for ages whether the movie would be NC-17 or R, and to be honest we’re wondering how they managed to depict many of the scenes from the book without the movie being thrown into an NC-17 rating.

The “Fifty Shades of Grey” book attracted many readers readers—young and old—because it was first written as fanfiction based on Edward Cullen and Bella Swan of the Twilight Saga. The book came with a built-in fan base because of how it got started, but its success spiralled out and has attracted the interest of millions of non-Twilighters since.

Fifty Shades of Grey” opens in theaters on February 13th—just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Many thanks to Variety
