Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Ender’s Game, Romeo & Juliet) will play nineteen-year-old genius Carrie Pilby in the adaptation of “Carrie Pilby,” a young adult novel written by Caren Lissner.
The indie film will be directed by Susan Johnson of Braveart Films.
Suzanne Farwell and Susan Cartsonis of Storefront Pictures will produce.
Producer Suzanne Farwell reportedly discovered the novel and fell in love with it. They are aiming to begin shooting in May of this year.
The story centers around Carrie Pilby, a nineteen-year-old prodigy who doesn’t fit in. She has just graduated Harvard, but doesn’t know how to interact with other people, deeming them all immoral, sex obsessed and hypocritical—until her therapist forces her to view the world in a different light. “Carrie Pilby” is a coming of age story.
Some other upcoming movies you’ll see Hailee Steinfeld in are Pitch Perfect 2, Barely Lethal, and Term Life. She’s also attached to star in the adaptation of YA novel The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, written by Jennifer E. Smith.
