Kristen Stewart and Julianne Moore appeared on the Today Show Monday (January 5th) to chat about their new movie, “Still Alice.” In the movie, Julianne Moore plays a woman struggling to cope with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease, and Kristen Stewart plays the daughter of Moore’s character.
“Still Alice” is based on the book of the same title by Lisa Genova, which was published back in July of 2007.
Speaking about her role in the movie and what she took away from it, Kristen had this to say:
“I think I found aspects of myself within this part that I hadn’t had a reason to discover. I can stand in something so grotesquely horrendous, and actually see the good in something, and try and see the light, and I didn’t know that I had that.”
And Julianne Moore had nothing but praise for Stewart, saying:
“I was delighted when I heard she was going to do this movie. I mean, really, really thrilled, because I’ve always loved her work so much, and I love her personally.”
It looks like the casting directors couldn’t have picked better people for this film! There’s currently talk that “Still Alice” might earn Julianne Moore an oscar nomination, making it her fifth. (Nominees for the 87th Academy Awards will be announced January 15, 2015.)
When asked about the message in “Still Alice” Kristen simply answered, “Be positive, and live in the now.”
