NEW ‘The Hobbit : The Battle of the Five Armies’ Stills!

Hobbit fans! Here are some brand new stills from The Hobbit – The Battle of the Five Armies featuring Thranduil, Bard and Tauriel thanks to the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con special issue. The final Hobbit film (sigh) hits theaters December 17th, 2014, and the first full-length trailer will make its debut in October. See below for the scoop on the Battle of the Five Armies teaser trailer that was released at Comic-con!

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
Regarding the Battle of Five Armies teaser trailer, the folks over at io9 had the chance to watch it, and this is what they had to say about it. (Note: Stop reading if you want everything to be a surprise!)

The teaser starts with Bilbo in a cell, and his sad voiceover says, “One day I’ll remember, remember everything that happened. The good, the bad. Those who survived . . . and those who did not.” We see Gandalf riding his horse like hell through a town square and Tauriel looking weepy. There are people running down a stone staircase in the middle of grandeur, and tons of figures in golden armor.

The dwarves are hoisting a broken statue of a helmeted figure, and a barefoot Galadriel is kissing a prone Gandalf on the forehead. “Will you have peace or war?” Thorin is asked, “I will have war,” he responds. And we see the Eye of Sauron. And everybody looks super sad, in a series of closeups of weepy characters, as Thorin asks if they will follow him one last time.

They also had the chance to watch the gag reel, to which they had this to say:

This led to a medley of crazy jokey footage, including Gandalf making Star Wars jokes and a scene where Samwise Gamgee is trying to get himself a close-up because he’s only been in group shots thus far — but Gandalf shoves him out of frame and hogs the close-up. And then a sequence Gandalf lifts his robe to reveal sexy white underwear and does a sexy dance. (This is as amazing as it sounds.)

Also in the gag reel we saw: Hobbits dancing in sacks, Sylvester McCoy and Ian McKellen goofing around, and Ian McKellen screwing up his lines and bantering with Peter Jackson in various movies. And Gandalf finding some crappy swords lying around and saying, “What fucking good is this? Typical elf work.” And Gandalf intoning: “Orcs… and so far from Auckland.” (He makes it sound like Orc-land.)

Christopher Lee falls off a tower to his death, impaled on a spike, and looks up at the camera and observes that he’s been here before. This happened to him 27 years ago — but that time, he looked up from being impaled and saw Peter Cushing. And now he’s looking up and seeing Peter Jackson. About which he has “no comment.”

Bookfandoms.com Has an Official Book Reviewer!

Book Fandoms
Hey fangirls and fanboys! I’m just whipping up this short message to let you know that we now have an official book reviewer on the Bookfandoms.com team, and she’s absolutely lovely. Her name is Lena and she is a true YA book fangirl! Some of her favorite books are: The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Fault In Our Stars, Twilight and all of the Shadowhunter books by Cassandra Clare. Her favorite TV shows are The Vampire Diaries and Once Upon A Time. Some of her favorite films are Frozen, Up, Hachiko and Forrest Gump. As for Lena’s favorite things? She adores chocolate, snow and Christmas.
Because of her belief that everyone needs someone to talk to and someone to listen to them without judgement, Lena aspires be a psychologist. She would also love to volunteer to work with children in need.

Here is a quote from Lena about why she loves books and reading:

For me, every book I read is another experience. When I finish a book, it’s like I’ve lived a new life, so I take lessons from it. Nevertheless, if I had to pick only one book that changed me, that would be Twilight. I know many people hate it, but Twilight is the first young adult book I ever read and it made me crave more. It taught me about unconditional love and this is something I will never forget, despite all the bad stuff I hear about the saga every day.

Lena already did her first book review on Bookfandoms.com (she reviewed The Hunger Games) and it can be found here. You can find Lena on Goodreads here or add her to your Google+ circle here! Lena will be reviewing young adult books primarily, but she might review some new adult or even adult books sometimes, too.

Welcome to the Book Fandoms team, Lena. We’re so lucky to have you and I know people will love and trust your reviews. Can’t wait to see what’s next on your review list!

With love, Bookfandoms.com.

In other Hobbit news, the folks over at Hypable were able to catch a showing of the Battle of Five Armies teaser and they have some spoilers. If you’re interested in what they’ve divulged about the teaser, keep reading:

As the video starts we hear a voice over from actor Martin Freeman as Bilbo. He talks about the many battles and remembers those who survived and those who didn’t. Then we hear Pippin from The Lord of the Rings singing the song he sang when Faramir went off to try and take back the city in Return of the King.

Then Thorin is asked if he would have peace or war and he says he would have war. We see loads of battle sequences and then Thorin asks his friends if they will follow him one last time in war. We also see Gandalf “dead’ in battle, with Cate Blanchett’s character kissing his head.

This is all going to be incredible bittersweet. The end of something amazing. Can’t wait to see The Hobbit: The Battle of Fiver Armies!

The Originals Season 2 Comic-Con Trailer!

The Originals season 2 premieres Monday October 6th at 8/7c, but you can get a sneak peek right now! Check out the trailer for the second season of The Originals, which was just shown at Comic-con, below!

The Originals Season 2 official description:

The first season of THE ORIGINALS brought the most formidable creature on earth, the Original vampire-werewolf hybrid Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan), back to his former home – the vibrant and supernaturally charged city of New Orleans. When he arrived, his siblings Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) not far behind, he was stunned to learn that werewolf Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin) was pregnant with his child. Though Elijah hoped that the news of a baby might help rebuild their fractured family, other forces threatened to destroy it further: namely, Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis), Klaus’ beloved vampire protégé, whom the Originals thought to be long dead, and a dark secret that Marcel and Rebekah held for a century. The Originals and Hayley soon found themselves caught in a bloody war between vampires and witches, the stakes raised by a vengeful young witch, Davina (Danielle Campbell), and by Klaus’ surprising connection to Cami (Leah Pipes), a student with a painful past. Meanwhile, Hayley helped her exiled werewolf family return to the French Quarter, unaware that a ruthless pack of wolves was already lurking in the city, waiting to stage a violent coup on the vampires. As the first season came to a close, the werewolves decimated the vampire community while the witches made a horrific assassination attempt against Klaus and Hayley’s newborn daughter. Season two finds our heroes adjusting to a new status quo, with the newly empowered werewolves controlling the city, Klaus struggling to adjust to new weaknesses, and Elijah desperate to save Hayley, now a hybrid, from a vicious spiral of self-destruction.

What do you think, Originals fans? Do you think season 2 will kick season one’s ass? So far it’s looking quite action-packed. Can’t wait! Hurry up, October.

What You Need to Know About the Mockingjay Part 1 Trailer!

The first full-length The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 trailer made its premiere this morning at San Diego Comic-Con. The folks over at Hypable were able to attend an advance viewing of the trailer at the Samsung Lounge’s ‘Capitol Gallery’ and they’re giving fans the scoop on what we need to know about the highly anticipated trailer. Here’s what they’ve divulge. (Note: If you don’t want to spoil it then stop reading here.)

The Mockingjay trailer was a minute long and was themed around Katniss versus the Capitol. It began with Plutarch, Coin, and Beetee meeting about Katniss. “No one can do this but her,” Plutarch tells his associates. There’s concern that the games destroyed Katniss. “She’s the face of the rebellion. They’ll follow her,” Coin says. In this moment we also see our first official look at Cressida played by Natalie Dormer. Gale also makes an appearance. Peeta is nowhere to be seen.

“Are you here to fight with us?” someone in one of the Districts asks Katniss while she’s on her tour. “I am. I will,” she tells them.

In another scene, President Snow bans citizens from having any association with the Mockingjay symbol.

Mockingjay

The Mockingjay Part 1 trailer is expected to be released online early next week. To see it before then, fans can stop into their local participating Best Buy store beginning tomorrow (Saturday, July 26) and head to their Samsung Experience Shop to check out the trailer! Head over to Hypable here to see pictures from Samsung and Lionsgate’s ‘Capitol Gallery’ at Comic-Con.
