The Vampire Diaries is currently in its sixth season, which has some of us fans wondering about the future of the popular show, especially since news broke that Steven R. McQueen (who plays Jeremy Gilbert) is leaving the show in the fourteenth episode of this season to pursue other projects.
We can’t help but wonder if the other cast members feel the same way and want to move on to different, fresh projects.
While talking to Paul Wesley for “Amira & Sam” Collider got the scoop on the suture of the show, and the actor admitted that he’s not sure that the show will continue with the same cast.
“I think next season will be interesting, because I think they’re going to shift the dynamic. I’m not sure if it’s going to be the same cast, to be honest with you. So it’ll be interesting to see what they come up with.”
On whether he’s still enjoying working on The Vampire Diaries:
“For me I’m still really enjoying it because I’m directing it now, and so that to me is like this really new thing. I think if it weren’t for the directing maybe I’d be feeling somewhat stagnant.”
Looks like he can’t say much beyond that, but what do you think, fanpeople? Would you still adore The Vampire Diaries if they got a new cast? I’m sure they’d completely shift the show and its center focus. It would have to center around a completely different plot with new vampires I think. Because trying to replace the main cast could come off as cheesy. Or maybe not? I don’t know.
