The Fault in Our Stars movie grossed over $263 million worldwide and is now set to get a Bollywood makeover. Fox Star Studios is currently planning a Hindi-language remake of the movie, which was adapted from the bestselling young adult novel by John Green. The TFiOS movie was not a huge success in India, making less than $1 million, but Fox Star Studios CEO Vijay Singh believes a Bollywood version of the film will do much better:
“The story resonates with the emotions of today’s youth and has found universal appeal,” he said. “We are excited to adapt the film for Bollywood and can’t wait to get started.”
He also admits that the decision to create the Fault in Our Stars remake was not sudden, and they’d been thinking of doing this for a while:
“The original English version was released here a couple of weeks ago and is still running. The film has done a business of about $1 million. We had actually thought of adapting it locally even before the film was released here.”
As it stands, no actors have been chosen to star in the remake, nor has a director been announced.
What do you think about this? Do you think they’ll do a good job? So far we’ve seen very mixed reactions around the Internet.
The Fault In Our Stars was directed by Josh Boone and stars Ansel Elgort, Shailene Woodley and Nat Wolff. John green’s Paper Towns novel is also being adapted into a film. For more details on that you can click here.
