The actor who plays Pippin, Billy Boyd, has created a song for ‘The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies‘ called ‘The Last Goodbye‘ and you can now hear it below! The bittersweet tune will play over the upcoming—and final—film’s end credits.

Well, I don’t know about you, but I sure as hell shed a tear listening to this. I can’t believe it’s all coming to an end. I’m in actual denial. What’s the next step? Acceptance? Yeah, I’m waiting for that.

The song is absolutely beautiful—there’s no doubt about that. Has almost a Christmassy sound to it (perfect for the holidays!)

The beautiful farewell song debuted exclusively on Billboard.

Billy Boyd has this to say about the creation process of ‘The Last Goodbye‘:

We focused on not just the final installment, but moreso on this 10-year epic adventure. A song to sum up the six movies. We recorded in Wellington, New Zealand, at one point traveling to Auckland to Neil Finn’s studio — where we recorded some of the guitar. It was surreal to be in his studio, as he did the song for [2012’s] The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

If you’ve watched ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’ then you’ve heard Billy’s beautiful voice already because he sung “Edge of Night” for the film.
