‘The Mortal Instruments’ New UK Covers Revealed

‘The Mortal Instruments’ New UK Covers Revealed

Today is World Book Day, so it’s only fitting that they revealed the brand new covers to the UK editions of wildly popular ‘The Mortal Instruments‘ series by Cassandra Clare. We’ve attached an image below of the new covers for City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, and City of Heavenly Fire.

The New York Times No.1 bestselling ‘The Mortal Instruments‘ series UK covers will be published in July 2015 Walker Books UK.

Also, cool fact: The new cover illustrations were created by Mila Furstova, the artist who created the album artwork for Coldplay’s Ghost Stories.

Cassandra Clare posted to her personal blog about the covers too:

Lots of people asked about the new designs for the covers of TMI in the UK/Australia/NZ/Ireland. Now, these covers aren’t going to replace the existing covers. The existing covers will still be sold. These will be sold also, either in the teen or adult section. They simply give an alternate look.
These are some of my favorite covers I’ve ever had. These are etchings done by artist Mila Fürstová. Within each shape, you can see careful details: Clary and Jace separated on City of Bones, together in City of Heavenly Fire, Alicante in the rose on City of Glass.
Furstova also did the cover for Coldplay’s Ghost Stories, which I love!
These are delicate and ethereal and lovely — very different from other covers I’ve had. I love the range!

So, what do you guys think of the new covers? We think they have a very ethereal vibe, which we’re loving. I really love the ‘City of Fallen Angels’ one with the artwork in the feathers.

Just like with the UK Harry Potter covers, you’ll surely be able to get these online even if you’re not in the UK. (I actually found the UK Harry Potter covers right here in Canada at Chapters/!ndigo.)
