Executive producer Julie Plec has revealed to Entertainment Weekly that fans can look forward to an Originals and Vampire Diaries crossover this season. Can October just hurry its little ass up? Because this wait is just becoming more and more excruciating as more details are revealed.
Making the two shows collide is quite a feat because it has to happen organically and line up with the two show’s story lines. The Originals and The Vampire Diaries managed to collide twice last season: The first when Tyler came to The Originals to taunt Klaus; and the second time when Klaus and Rebekah visited Mystic Falls for the 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries. (You know, the steamy episode where Caroline and Klaus hooked up in the woods. Ow! Ow!)
“It looks like we are going to be able to do a crossover in the first half of the season, and I can’t tell you what or who or when because it hasn’t been shot yet, but things are looking good,” executive producer Julie Plec said of the crossover. Although she couldn’t share much, she did divulge that, despite his current status as an Original vampire, Alaric Saltzman is not the focus of the crossover, but that she would love to see that happen in the future. “I just love the idea of Matt Davis playing in the pool with Joe [Joseph Morgan] and Daniel [Gillies].”
We love it too, Julie. We love it too.
The Vampire Diaries returns on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. ET, and The Originals returns for its second season on Monday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. ET!
