This brand new clip from ‘The Giver‘ movie was just released and it gives fans a glimpse of Taylor Swift as Rosemary in this flash back scene from when she was the “Receiver.” The clip features a hologram of Swift playing a haunting tune on the piano as the new Receiver, Jonas, looks on. Jonas is played by Brenton Thwaites, and the Giver is played by Jeff Bridges.
“She no longer exists,” The Giver tells Jonas. “Except here, and in my memories.”
The Giver is based on the bestselling young adult novel by Lois Lowry and takes place in a dystopian society that was founded on the idea of “Sameness,” which is complete control over everything to make it the same. Anything different is promptly stifled. Because of Sameness, there is no hatred or jealously or violence, and no one understands genuine pain or emotion. Except for the Receiver, who is chosen to bear all the memories of the past so that he can prevent the community from making the same mistakes. The Receiver, Jonas, must bear all the pain that comes along with those memories.
The Giver movie makes its way to theaters Friday August 15th and stars Taylor Swift, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Odeya Rush and Cameron Monaghan.
